I’ve been traveling a bit more recently. Some of it is for pleasure some of it is for business. It is easy to eat too much while traveling. Something about the early mornings, busy days, and constant availability of food makes it easy to just keep eating. One trick I’ve learned is to not stray from my normal routine as easy as that may be to do. My normal routine is 3 meals and about 2 snacks. I try hard to stick to that.
So today I traveled to Arlington, Virginia and I stuck to my plan. I brought 2 snacks with me so I wouldn’t have to purchase any. I had some early morning (that granola is delicious right now). I didn’t end up eating the other snack because our corporate office stocks the pantry well with healthy snacks. I did pretty good having breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, and a balanced dinner.
This is something that can be repeated no matter what the trip. Just recently on our flight to the Florida Keys we all got breakfast sandwiches and then boarded the plane. The sweet flight attendant proceeded to offer us all sorts of tasty and healthy snacks while on the plane (directly following our filling breakfast meal). I took a few of the snacks and had one but was able to show some restraint and not eat the snacks just because they were there.
Do you feel like travel days throw your nutrition off? Do you have other tips you use when traveling to not just eat because it’s there? Traveling to different time zones makes things a bit more difficult but my recommendation is still the same, don’t change your normal routine.
