[this is part of a series from write31days.com, start HERE if you’re just jumping in!]
Why is it that I feel so bad when I don’t make time for meals? I still probably eat just as many calories (actually probably more), I feel terrible, am constantly hungry, and I make poor choices. Know what I’m talking about? I don’t do this on purpose.
Well, I used to. I used to try to have light snacks throughout the day so I could eat more calories later in the night (there’s a bad story about lean pockets and fiber one bars for later). This is not recommended and it was during a unhealthy time of my life.
My thoughts of Jesus were low and my view of food and my body were high.
However this happens now because life is busy and going to the grocery is a lot of work. Working from home means I get started with just coffee and don’t make time for breakfast. By the time I think of a snack it’s almost lunch time. So I grab a snack on days we don’t plan ahead for lunch at home and then I basically need a snack every hour from that time til 5 pm. It’s awful. So I’m making a grocery list today. I probably won’t get to the grocery until like 10 pm tonight but it’s worth it. Here are some snacks I’m going to be planning on, and 2 lunches so my days don’t consist of only snacks:
- Guacamole and corn chips/tortilla
- Goat cheese and chips (store bought)
- trail mix
- apples and peanut butter
- sunflower seed butter and rice cake
- Tabouleh (store-bought for lunch)
- Hummus, turkey, crackers, salad (lunch)
I’ve challenged on here a few times during this series for you all to make a list and go to the grocery. Did you go? What did you buy? Did it make your meals a bit easier throughout the day?
