You know those days where life is busy, full, and there’s not a lot of margin? For me those days are infrequent, which I love. I have time to think and process and plan most days. But occasionally I have some busy days. Maybe for you these happen more often. You’re on the go from wake to sleep because of kiddos, maybe you’re also working full-time for a company, maybe you’re overworked most days?
It’s those busy days where my nutrition takes a back seat. Maybe there’s a catered lunch and I eat too much because there wasn’t time for breakfast. Maybe there’s just no time to think about food so lunch doesn’t happen at all. Maybe it’s 5 o’clock and you’re starving because you needed a snack but you couldn’t catch a break. All of these things may have already happened to me this week. And it’s only Wednesday.
I think it comes down to priorities. And sometimes, on days like today, I don’t prioritize my health. Our company stocks our fridge with healthy snacks but I didn’t make time for it. If our health is a priority, we do what we care about.
All I can do is make a more conscious effort tomorrow. I can’t dwell on today, except to learn from it. So today, I’m going to exercise, have a healthy breakfast, and be sure to have a snack for when hunger comes. What’s your next healthy step?
