Hello! I’m Katie and this is a space on the internet I love a whole lot. I’m a habitual exclamation mark user and when you see a period on here, well, let’s say I have to think extra hard about it–>. I also am a straight up D on the DiSC assessment (and ENTJ) so if I come off harsh, I’m learning to soften my personality a bit (crossing my fingers on all the assessments that it’ll tell me I’m also kind and sensitive to no avail…). I get great enjoyment from food, I love to cook for others and try new recipes (and occasionally fail), however I don’t have a favorite food (shocking, I know). I can’t keep a clean room, my nostrils flair when I laugh, and my mom used to rock me to sleep by singing The Mamas & The Papas.
Anyway, this blog started because I am always searching the internet for “what is the best ______”. Blank, fill-in-the-blank, everything, allll the things. I’m always looking for the best items because if I’m going to spend money I want it to be the best and well-researched. Ya feel? Except what started to happen is that I realized the “best things” change, or don’t live up to their expectation, or tended to fall short. Except for coffee, coffee doesn’t fail. Just kidding. It does. BUT all that shows me is that heaven is coming, where the best things are truly the best things, allll the things in their most perfect form. So while we’re here on this earth we can enjoy good things, but they’re not the best. God is great and what you’ll see on here are the things I’ve researched and have loved, but these are good things that are to point us to a great God who is the form of perfection in every way. Start here to get some background. #goodthingsgreatGod
I’m married to Joey and we live in Indiana. Joey works for his family’s company so, God willing, we will be here for a long time (we just saw his great great grandfather’s grave from 1916 in Indianapolis, so, ya). I work as a registered dietitian for a health care company and love my job, but enjoy spending my free time dreaming about the topics on this blog. I have a master’s degree in nutrition and am a Certified Diabetes Educator, so I may get technical sometimes when it comes to nutrition. Sometimes. Joey is my best friend, and I’m constantly learning how to love as I watch him love and forgive me. We also love our local church and the little city we call home. You can find me mostly on Instagram. Come say hi because I’d love to meet you here or there!
Another place I love on the internet is The Influence Network. This is an online community of women who know their God-given influence can be used right where they are whether at home with sick kiddos, in a cubicle arranging spreadsheets, or with their online business selling handmade mugs. We’re going in-depth this year with various topics then encouraging women to pour their influence back into the local church. These women are for each other, fighting jealousy, supporting others in similar endeavors, lifting Jesus high in their lives, and are a breath of fresh air for me. If you’ve been considering joining the Network I highly recommend membership!
The pictures of me are taken by Leanne Fuhs, contact her if you’re interested in having her photograph you or your loves.
